Training of Tourism Village Management in Pangkalpinang City 2024

Improving the capacity of village tourism managers, the quality of services, the number of tourists, the income of the local community, the development of tourism potential, the implementation of environmental policies and standards, the appreciation of local culture, as well as building better networks and collaborations.

Pangkalpinang, July 16th, 2024 — Pangkalpinang Tourism Office held a Tourism Village Management Training at Sun Hotel Pangkalpinang on July 16th-18th, 2024.
This activity was funded by Special Alocation Fund (Dana Alokasi Khusus / DAK) Non Physic of Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kementrian Pariwisata dan Ekonomi Kreatif / Kemenparekraf).
The event was attended by 40 participants from tourism villages in Pangkalpinang City, namely SEJAGAT Ecotourism Village (Selindung – Jerambah Gantung) and Tuatunu Malay Tourism Village, as well as representatives from urban villages and sub-districts that have tourism villages in their area.
This training was presented by speakers from Bangka Belitung University, Jerieng Pesisir and Jerieng Budaya Tourism Village Managers, Chairperson of PHRI Pangkalpinang City, Pangkalpinang City Tourism and Environment Office, and Tourism Village Practitioner from East Belitung, Agus Pahlevi.

The first day of the training started with the material on Biodiversity of Natural Resources in Pangkalpinang City, where the material on Potential of Tourism Attractions in Tourism Villages was discussed by a lecturer from Bangka Belitung University, Budi Afriyansyah.
In addition, Muhammad Abdulrahman from the Tourism Village Manager of Jerieng Pesisir presented the content on the Tourism Village Institution.
The first day was concluded with the Excellent Service material presented by Sumiati, Chairman of the Perhimpunan Hotel dan Restoran Indonesia (PHRI) of Pangkalpinang City as well as CEO and Director of Bangka City Hotel Pangkalpinang.

Day One : Pangkalpinang City Tourism Village Management Training

The Task Executor Mayor of Pangkalpinang, Dra. Lusje Anneke Tabalujan, M.Pd. giving an opening remarks. The Assistant for Economy and Development of Pangkalpinang City, Dra. Juhaini stated that this training was important to improve the capacity of tourism village managers, service quality, number of tourists and local community income from tourism sector.

The second day was filled by speakers from the Pangkalpinang City Tourism Office with content on Regional Tourism Development Policies and Programs for Tourism Village Development.
Then it continued with speakers from the Environmental Agency presenting material entitled Application of Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability in Tourism Village Management.
The second day was concluded by Agus Pahlevi, a speaker from East Belitung, who presented material entitled Development and Management of Community-Based Tourism Products.

Day Two : Pangkalpinang City Tourism Village Management Training

The Pangkalpinang City Tourism Village Management Training was concluded with a field practice activity on competitive and sustainable tourism village management at Jering Cultural Tourism Village, Pelangas Village, West Bangka Regency on the last day.
The field practice was opened by the Secretary of Pelangas Village, Mr. Abdulrahman, and the Manager of Jering Cultural Tourism Village, Mrs. Wendi, who warmly welcomed the participants.
The journey from Pangkalpinang to Pelangas Village takes about 2.5 hours by tour bus. Passing through Petaling Village, we can see the campus of IAIN SAS Babel. Along the way, there are several mosques that can be visited to pray or rest.

In some areas, such as Kelapa region, there are rest areas that sell food and snacks such as meatballs, cassava chips, and others. After an hour’s drive from Kelapa, we arrive at Pelangas Village.
There is a village hall that used to welcome guests. On the other side, there is an information center provides brief information about the village.

Day Three : Pangkalpinang City Tourism Village Management Training

The event started with a Silat Sambut and Sambut Dance performance, which are traditional arts typical of Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village.
We were warmly welcomed by the Silat Sambut and Sambut Dance performances presented by the local Tourism Awareness Group (Kelompok Sadar Wisata / Pokdarwis). Our enthusiasm was evident during the performance. Afterwards, we were welcomed by Mr. Abdulrahman and Mr. Wendi, the Pokdarwis of Pelangas Village and the Village Secretary.
This mesmerizing performance captured the attention and admiration of the students. Through dynamic silat movements and beautiful dances, the participants were able to experience the rich culture and traditions of the village.

The performance not only provided entertainment but also introduced them to the valuable cultural heritage of Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village.

The field practice activities began with an experience sharing and discussion session between the manager of Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village and the training participants.
In the QnA session, the main topic discussed was how to explore tourism in the village and make it a tourist destination with high selling points for tourists.
This session lasted from the arrival of the trainees until noon. The discussion provided valuable inspiration to the participants. Day Three : Opening of Pangkalpinang City Tourism Village Management Training

The participants were also served local dishes typical of Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village, namely wakwak and Ubi Rebus.
Wakwak is a food made from sea worms that has a rather salty taste. Wakwak is usually processed into culinary specialties and consumed by local people. The dish is usually served with Ubi Rebus as a side dish.

After the opening session and appetizers, it was time for a break. The participants of the Pangkalpinang City Tourism Village Management Training were then served a lunch menu typical of the Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village.
The lunch was prepared by local residents and consisted of Nasi Putih with a variety of local side dishes such as Ikan Goreng, Sayur Darat, Sambal Ikan Teri, Sambal Terasi and Lalapan.

After resting and enjoying a typical lunch menu of Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village, the participants had the opportunity to learn the art of Silat, Traditional Dances and Dambus.
These activities are an integral part of the cultural traditions of Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village from the past to the present. Through this experience, the participants were able to better understand and appreciate the richness of local culture that has been inherited from generation to generation.
All participants were divided into three teams and we had the opportunity to learn Dambus with team one. Each team then spread to three houses with great enthusiasm to learn each of the traditional art classic activities of the Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village area.
After learning the three art activities, we gathered at the Balai Adat Desa Wisata Budaya Jerieng to perform what we had learned.

The enthusiasm of the participants was evident throughout the activity. Many of them actively participated in each art class.
The participants were eager to follow the instructions and directions, and showed great interest in learning every detail of the art being taught.

This reflects their passion and curiosity to explore and appreciate the cultural heritage of Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village.

After completing the performance of the learning outcomes of traditional arts from Jerieng Cultural Tourism Village, the participants conducted a group photo session at the Balai Adat Desa Wisata Budaya Jerieng. This photo session was conducted as a form of farewell and gratitude for the opportunity to visit the village.

This training is expected to have several benefits, such as increasing the capacity of tourism village managers to manage their villages sustainably, increasing the quality of services in tourism villages, increasing the number of tourists visiting tourism villages in Pangkalpinang City, and increasing the income of local communities from tourism sector.
Time flew by and we said goodbye to the locals and prepared to return to Pangkalpinang. Then we boarded the bus and continued our journey back home cheerfully.

This effort is part of the Pangkalpinang City Government’s strategy to develop tourism villages as a leading sector to improve the local economy and empower the community.
The Pangkalpinang City Tourism Village Management Training 2024 is an important step in developing superior tourism villages in the city.
Through this training, expected that tourism village managers can increase their capacity in managing and developing tourism villages that are attractive to tourists. Thus, it is expected that this training can bring significant economic and social benefits for local communities.
